10h Pranayama Training in Bern, 8-9 November 2025

Breathing is the first and last gesture of life, but it is much more than a simple automatic movement programmed for our survival. This weekend workshop is an invitation to get curious about our breath: we will (re)discover specific ancient pranayama practices, while learning about what modern science can teach us about them.

What to expect: 3,5h of practice + 4h of theory + 2,5h of teaching methodology

  • history and philosophy of pranayama

  • breathing: how and why?

  • anatomy & biomechanics of the breath

  • a modern understanding of the bandhas

  • different pranayama practices and their variations/adaptations

  • pranayama sequencing & teaching methodology

Schedule for both days: 8h30-13h30

  • morning practice (asana, pranayama)

  • tea/snack break

  • history & philosophy

  • anatomy & physiology

  • pranayama practice

  • short break

  • teaching methodology + Q&A

The schedule might be subject to slight changes.

To share a bit of my journey, my pranayama practice began over a decade ago. I started with a deep sense of insecurity about exploring my own breath, even though I was already captivated by it.

However, I grew frustrated when I realized that I was often introduced to complex techniques right from the start, without a clear understanding of the biomechanics of breathing or even the basics of proper breathing. It felt as though anything not labeled as "advanced" was considered boring or useless — spoiler alert: it’s not.

This frustration led me to start over from the very beginning. I delved into the simplest practices, which ended up teaching me far more than the advanced techniques I had initially been exposed to. As I continued to study, read and attend various trainings, I slowly realized that my intuitive, gradual approach to pranayama might actually be a more sensitive and inclusive path for many others.

I could go on for a while, but this is just one of the many insights I hope to share during this weekend immersion. You can expect a training that takes a progressive and personalized approach, where less is often more, and simplicity is key. We'll focus on the biomechanics of breathing, explore over 10 different techniques and their variations, and learn how to practice and teach in a smart, progressive, and inclusive way.

Price: 280.-  Early Bird (August 8th), 300.- for later bookers.
The course is YA accredited, and you will receive a certificate of completion.

Includes: a manual, high quality mats and props, a Yoga Alliance certification, a welcome gift, tea and snacks... Doesn't include: food, accommodation, insurance.

The training will take place in a small group. It is open to teachers as well as any breath curious person. You will hopefully get a new level of understanding for your own practice, and as a teacher, will leave better able to support your students on this insightful journey.

50h Embodied Slowness Yin Yoga Training in Bern (Yoga Atelier), 6-8 & 13-15 March 2026

Sarah and Valentine are thrilled to invite you to their 50h Yin YTT, which will take place in beautiful and spacious Yoga Atelier (Bern, Mattenhof) between the 14th and the 23rd of March 2025 (2 half days + 4 full days).

Yin yoga is a slower paced style of yoga developed in the late 70’s, influenced by Hatha Yoga, Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves longer held poses to target, among other things, the connective tissues around the joints, focusing on passive stretches, rather than active, muscle based stretching. Practicing yin yoga helps increasing flexibility and joint mobility, while reducing stress and promoting relaxation, bringing the practitioners into more introspective, meditative states. Each pose is typically held for 2-6 minutes, depending on individual needs and targets. As a complementary practice to other dynamic practices, yin yoga invites us to slow down, take a step back into a state of Embodied Slowness.

This course is aimed at yoga teachers and other health/movement professionals wanting to implement yin elements to their classes or offerings, as well as curious students who wish to deepen their Yin Yoga practice. This course is Yoga Alliance accredited.

The teachers:
